EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Ryan Garvelink
Ryan Garvelink
joined i3 Business Solutions in February of this year in
our Customer Support Center. Ryan is the kinder, gentler
version of “Big Brother” watching over i3 clients’
systems ensuring maximum uptime. It is Ryan you will
speak to if you have trouble with email or a printer or
your server goes down. Chances are he’ll contact you
before you are even aware you have trouble. He can often
fix your IT problem remotely. Even George Orwell could
not argue with that.
Ryan is a
sophomore at Davenport University working toward his
Bachelor of Applied Sciences Degree in Network Security.
Ryan enjoys golf, water skiing, wake boarding, and
vacationing at Lake Michigan in Grand Haven. Please join
us in welcoming Ryan to i3.

Tom Sutherland
Tom Sutherland
has been with i3 Business Solutions for 11 years now. He
started back before the merger between Silver Lake
Resources and 21st Century. Tom is one of our very
talented network engineers and specializes in Microsoft
and Cisco Network Systems. He is currently installing
systems at Durolast and Wolverine Power Supply
Cooperative.
Tom and his
wife Jennifer have been married for 16 years. Jennifer
is pursuing a degree in design from Baker College.
Together the couple has been restoring their 110 year
old home in Grand Haven. Tom and Jennifer have two sons;
Jared who is 16 and will be competing in the National
Science Olympiad in Washington D.C. this June; and 8
year old Aaron who is a sports nut and plays piano.
Tom is a bass
guitar player who enjoys playing blue grass music with
friends when he is not carting his boys to their many
activities. He attends Ferris State University where he
is working to complete his Bachelor of Computer Science
Degree. People like Tom Sutherland are what make i3 a
great place to work and do business with. Thanks Tom!

Extreme Office
Technology Makeover
| How would a $25,000
“Extreme Office Technology Makeover” accelerate your business results?
|
 |
Most small businesses can only
dream about current, efficient, integrated business systems. The staff at Camp
Roger is now living this reality every day. “We are set up for future growth
with a uniform starting point. Everything is great, we are not waiting for the
next thing to die,” said Matt Zwiep, the defacto Camp Roger IT guy.
Camp Roger was the lucky winner in
the 2007 “Extreme Office Technology Makeover” sponsored by i3 Business Solutions
and the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. Entries were judged on current
business pains and how new technology would increase productivity.
Camp Roger’s application said in part “As a
non-profit organization, we have been forced to
walk a fine line. We struggle with finding the
balance of buying equipment that will allow us
to get by, while at the same time be good
stewards of donated funds. This is why we find
ourselves using a system that is pieced
together, often unreliable, and much slower than
what we need.”
Installation was completed and Camp Roger’s new
business systems are up and running in time for
the 2008 summer camp season. The IT facelift
included: an IBM server, four workstations with
LCD monitors, two notebook computers, a color
printer Microsoft Office 2007 licenses, a
firewall, installation services and 3 months of
ReliabiliTy. The hardware and software was
implemented by i3’s own Doug Worden and Camp
Roger couldn’t have had nicer things to say
about how helpful Doug was and is!

Connect People, Information & Processes
With a
SharePoint Starter Site
By Jane Cage, HTS
COO
Everyone can agree –
there is not a business around that wouldn’t benefit from better
processes and shared information. SharePoint, a Microsoft product
designed for networks running Windows Server, is a web-based
application that enables anywhere-access for individuals or groups
who are working together on projects. Team members can share files,
calendars, contacts and secure information through a browser
anywhere they have web access. Read below for answers to some of the
basic questions surrounding this great application.

SharePoint?” |

Make Documents Look Great in Word 2007
|
With Microsoft Office Word 2007, you can quickly and easily
turn a plain-looking document into one that looks
professionally designed. Use styles to quickly format major
elements in your document, such as titles, subtitles, and
headings. Start with predefined, coordinated designs and
then customize to suit your needs. |
 |
As
you work, you don't need to apply formatting and then do it again
until you have what you want — just point to a style in the dialog
box to see a preview in your document.
Not
quite right? Point to a different style and see what it looks like.
Watch the demo to see how easy it is to give a plain document a
professional-looking makeover, and then give it a final polish with
headers and footers and a cover page. |
